Summary
web_searchrequests fromadvancedtofastparallel-webfrom0.5.0to1.3.0, whose GA Search types include Fast modebasicmode notemode: "fast"reaches/v1/searchWhy Fast
Parallel's current Search mode guidance positions Fast for high-quality interactive agent search within a one-second budget. At current list prices, Fast costs $1 per 1,000 requests versus $5 for Basic or Advanced.
The Artificial Analysis Search API leaderboard reports:
That makes Fast a better default for Pi's interactive web-search tool while retaining near-Advanced aggregate quality. Advanced remains available to direct SDK consumers for multi-hop background research.
The extension currently has documentation drift: its README says Basic, while its implementation hardcodes Advanced. This change aligns both on Fast.
