- setupPingInterval now tracks inbound liveness; if no inbound arrives for 16s (~3 missed 5s pings) it force-closes the raw socket and reconnects - reconnect was driven ONLY by the WebSocket 'close' event, so a silently half-open connection (NAT/firewall idle-drop, cellular<->wifi handoff, a dead TCP with no FIN) left the client a zombie — appears connected, receives nothing, never reconnects (until OS TCP keepalive, ~2h, often off) - forces this.connect() rather than waiting for socket.close() to fire 'close': a graceful close handshake hangs on an unresponsive peer, wedging CLOSING - validated: half-open probe self-recovers; 8/8 chaos scenarios still recover Co-Authored-By: Claude Fable 5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
