For transparency:
Untested changes, therefore draft.
Applied changes were done with some AI help and so far I was not able to figure out how testing works yet.
So a hint where to find testing docs for changes like this would be great.
Will start looking for this next up anyway.

Tests can be run locally using: https://github.com/pulp/oci_env
The oci_env repo contains some README and docs about how. If you get stuck, it is best to find help on the pulp-dev matrix channel, see also: https://pulpproject.org/help/

Thanks for the hint, I got the testing setup running by now.
As it's still difficult for me to figure out if this change does exactly what I want I'll check out the matrix channel in a bit.
