The docs listed a fixed set of supported types (SYMBOL, STRING, BOOLEAN, SHORT, INT, LONG, LONG256, CHAR, DECIMAL) which was inaccurate: - VARCHAR was missing despite being fully supported. - DECIMAL is not supported and errors at query time. Verified against a live QuestDB Enterprise instance by testing every column type in PARTITION BY. Only BINARY, ARRAY, and DECIMAL are rejected; every other column type works. Switched the docs from an allow-list to a deny-list to avoid drifting out of date again.

Correct example result tables against real output, fix clause names, complete the syntax block, add a supported-types section with a DECIMAL cast workaround, and document NULL keys, ties, and result order. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com>
Remove the DECIMAL-to-DOUBLE workaround (the cast merges distinct values), the time-filter speed tip (it changes results), and the tie and result-order notes. Restore the sub-query result row order. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com>
PR #565 review — LATEST ON (level 2)Verdict: approve-with-nits. Build passes. Every example and result table is correct (checked against the source and the demo instance). Nothing blocks merge. Most gaps below were already on the page before this PR. Major (fix in this PR or right after)File:

Summary
The
LATEST ONdocs listed a fixed, inaccurate set of column types supported inPARTITION BY:SYMBOL,STRING,BOOLEAN,SHORT,INT,LONG,LONG256,CHAR,DECIMAL.VARCHARwas missing even though it is fully supported.DECIMALwas listed as supported but actually errors at query time.Verification
Verified directly against a live QuestDB Enterprise instance by creating a table with one column of every data type and running
LATEST ON ts PARTITION BY <col>for each:SYMBOL,VARCHAR,STRING,BOOLEAN,BYTE,SHORT,INT,LONG,LONG256,CHAR,FLOAT,DOUBLE,DATE,TIMESTAMP,UUID,IPv4,GEOHASH(plusLONG128/TIMESTAMP_NS, not user-facing types documented elsewhere).invalid type, only [...] are supported in LATEST ON):BINARY,ARRAY,DECIMAL.Fix
Switched the docs from an allow-list to a deny-list, since almost every column type is supported:
This is both more accurate today and less likely to go stale as new column types are added.
