Integration train 31: six signed lanes on top of main 939dbb6 (train 30). 71 commits.

What users get

  • --for: whole bodies of the top unbodied ranked rows (body-tail fold), and head rows round-robin across files so more distinct files reach the answer's head; a .d.ts / .pyi declaration twin keeps full weight only when no implementation file exists.
  • --callers: a whole caller list is served when its rows fit a 16,000-byte band (the callees page gets a matching next=).
  • --path: when no path is found, a sink-side frontier (<near_sink>) lists the target's proven callers with the reason each gap could not be crossed; closures get a hedged via="closure" link; a gated, hedged <bridge proven="0"> crosses declined/value hops; a by-name way in that the hedge rules hold back reads withheld="name:N", never "external". --impact prints declined-site <dc> rows, tier-ordered.
  • Honesty: qualified annotations (mod.T, ns.T) no longer type a receiver they cannot prove.
  • Build: -Werror=dangling-reference on GCC 13+, lifetime-bound accessors, and the signed-integer / contract guidance in CONTRIBUTING.

Train record

Lanes (merge order, git -c rerere.enabled=false merge --no-ff): body-fold b112e8a · hrr 9511ae5 (stacked on body-fold) · h1-annot ae23498 · callers-band2 0e49fa1 · dangling-warnings c6838da · ix2-slice 068102d. Order as suggested (no conflict argued otherwise).
Versions: kParserVer 198 (rich file tag 199), quality.h mirror 198; kCacheVersion stays 36; kQSnapCacheScheme stays 22. 198 is strictly above every live build (survey of every origin ref: main / l3-rust-receivers / cr-harvest-30 196 (rich 197), h1-annot 194/195, name-template-dispatch 192, go-local-var 190, fcall-forward 188, the other five train-31 lanes 184). No lane touched a cache serializer (h1-annot appends two LocalBindKind values), so cache and qsnap schemes stay. qschemetrip re-derived ONCE (b3bb57d4aa…a02a21a4) with a RE-PIN LOG entry; CHANGELOG versions note 167 → 198 (file tag 199), every [Unreleased] "in this release" figure now 198 / 36 (9 sites, 3 of them stale 184s from train 29), dictv=f1e98faa0aeaa1ee entries=902.
Ratchet: langidentity RECOUNT on the merged tree = 339 = main's 339 (ceiling 339); every lane +0 as declared. Not raised.
CR pre-pass: two Opus reviewers (A --for/body-fold/HRR, B callers band/IX-2/h1/build flags): 1 Major (claims drift: the callers byte band had no CHANGELOG entry and the 50-row entry said the opposite) fixed; 4 Minor (2 fixed, 2 carded) and 5 Nits (all fixed); table below.
Lane-row recheck (frozen round-5 kit, each lane's own cells and grader, lane-head binary vs merged): no lane cell lower because of train 31 (table below).
Contributors to credit: none outside the house this train (all six lanes are ours; community PR #414 is not in it). The h1-annot and dangling-warnings lanes came from owner rulings; credit the reviewers' finds as usual.

Rule C + legacy — LANE-ROW RECHECK (frozen round-5 kit; each lane's own cells + grader; lane-head binary vs the merged binary; --no-cache)

lane cells Rule C ✓ lane → merged legacy ✓ lane → merged method gap lane → merged lower cells
body-fold 53 29 → 33 45 → 46 16 → 13 fzf-02 expert C ✓→◐ (R3) — = main 939dbb6 byte-identical (train-30's ruled HONEST LOSS, go-local-var); not a train-31 merge effect
hrr 44 29 → 29 39 → 39 10 → 10 fzf-02 (same)
ix2-slice 83 32 → 42 55 → 60 23 → 18 fzf-02 (same)

h1-annot 8 4 → 4 4 → 4 0 → 0 none (mdbook-06 expert matched 6→5, still ✗; merged output byte-identical to main)
dangling-warnings — — — — no rows
Every lane-head binary reproduced its lane's recorded counts exactly. Gap closures are with legacy flat or rising.

Head checks: clean build == HEAD; prereview PASS (quality-delta gating 0, byte identity 34/34); 56/56 targeted gates; ASan 11/11; full g++-14 and g++-13 builds with 0 dangling-reference diagnostics.

Merge only on the maintainer's go (guarded merge).

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • New Features

    • --for answers can now include relevant function bodies, with pagination for content that does not fit. Signature results can also prioritize distinct files and names.
    • Call hierarchy results provide closure details and clearer paging. Caller lists can be paged by estimated response size.
    • Path searches support glob endpoints and can show nearby symbols or tentative bridge chains when no direct path is found.
    • --impact results include rows for declined calls.
  • Improvements

    • Ranking better distinguishes declaration files from implementations. Import and receiver analysis handle more qualified types and Python operator patterns.
    • Documentation and response legends clarify ranking, limits, and follow-up options.

…ped callees page next=

A who-calls answer is the set: tmux's --callers=options_get_number printed 40 of 121
rows although the whole list is ~10.8 KB. callHierarchyRowCap (pageview.h) now also
serves every row of a CALLERS answer whose estimated row bytes fit kCallersBandBytes
(16,000 B). The estimate (callhierarchy.h callersByteBand) is the XML row each caller
prints with its sites_at= tokens; its site pass is reused by the page. One number for
the CLI dialects and the MCP twins, so they agree on whether a list is cut. Above the
band the 40-row page, its next= page and uses_next= are unchanged; --callees keeps the
row band and --impact its 40-row page.

Rider: a capped --callees page names the next page as next= (CLI XML/columnar/--json and
MCP find_symbol), with expand moving to expand_next= (legend + compact term).

Gate: neighbourcapcheck (22)-(25); the fixtures of arms (2)-(13) and (16)-(21b) take
heavier rows so their capped premise holds past the byte band.

…md and TUNING.md list it

The LIMITS generator reads cap names by keyword (Max/Cap/...); the band constant gets a
Max and a one-line note, and LIMITS.md, TUNING.md and the README cap count (262) are
regenerated. No behaviour change.

…answer, gates before the code

Pins the contract of the --for body-tail fold (src/forfold.h, next commit): on the compact route in the
default regime, <fold kind="bodies" budget_bytes="4000" served= total=> after the unchanged answer, the
whole bodies of the top three ranked rows not already bodied, each whole or not served (<skip next=--expand>),
a class over the budget served as a member slice (constructor + question-word members) then skipped; the
<sigs> continuation pair (next= the first skip, sigs_next= the signatures-only re-call); est_tokens prices it;
no fold under --signatures-only/--json/--auto-bodies/--detail/--token-budget/--max-tokens/name-exact.
Riders: a cut <hops> callee listing carries next=--callees (present-only clause); the file page legend's
n= vs sibs_total= reading. Fixture test/forbodyfoldfix (web: TS/JS, py: Python).

On the pre-change binary fc0745a: 22 FAIL verdicts, 12 PASS twins/negatives. Registered in regression.sh
and the shard weights; gate-count sites regenerated (695).

…compact-route answer

A conceptual --for question routes to the compact bundle (signatures, one-hop edges, the file tail, no
bodies). It now ends with <fold kind="bodies" budget_bytes="4000" served= total=>: the whole bodies of its
top three ranked rows not already bodied, in rank order, each whole or not at all within 4,000 B, in the
--expand body shape without sibs=/inc= and without callee rows. A body that does not fit is a <skip p= n= l=
bytes= next="--expand=P:L:N"> row and the walk goes on; a class too big for what is left is served as a
<slice> of its constructor and the members whose name or body holds a question word, then skipped whole.

Everything before the fold is the answer without it (RIPWIRE_NO_BODY_FOLD=1): the fold's legend clause is
exempt from the sig trim, est_tokens prices the bodies at the body rate. C3 (next order): on an answer that
carries the fold, <sigs next=> names the first skipped body and the signatures-only re-call moves to
sigs_next= (it lifted 0 items in 20 executions on the round-5 rows). Default regime only: no fold under an
explicit --token-budget or --max-tokens, --json, --signatures-only, --auto-bodies, --detail=N or the
name-exact route. MCP for is not changed (it has no compact route).

Measured offline on the 53 round-5 --for rows (base fc0745a outputs, frozen round-5 grader): Rule C +4
(hono-02, hono-11, koa-02, textual-02), legacy +2, 0 lost; +3.2 KB median per compact answer, max 4.5 KB.

Riders: a ranked <hops> row whose <calls> listing is cut carries next="--callees=…" (the per-hop cap was
disclosed but not recoverable), defined by a present-only clause; the --for --limit=N file page legend says
n= counts this task's positive-score symbols, not the expand flag's sibs_total= file count.

Output only: no kParserVer / kCacheVersion change.

…eck R1d pins it

ownerCalleesNext (the owner rows' cut listing, and since the previous commit every ranked hop's) built
"--callees=" + the target by hand, so a file name a shell would split pasted as two arguments. It now goes
through rw::nextFlag like every other continuation (checklist 34); a plain path is byte-identical.

…demotecheck, estchargecheck (rule 4)

Each arm keeps its old premise on the fold-off twin (RIPWIRE_NO_BODY_FOLD=1) and gains the fold's reading:
- compactroutecheck (1)/(1d) count bodies outside <fold>; new (1e): the fold-off answer has zero <b> and the
default carries its bodies only inside <fold>.
- docdemotecheck (f): the golden is unchanged and read off the fold-off twin; new (f-fold): the default answer
is that twin plus the fold, its clause, the <sigs> next pair and est_tokens, nothing else.
- estchargecheck #11: the flat identity on the fold-off twin, and the mixed identity (fold bodies at 3.80) on
the default; #19 counts the fold's bodies as body-rate spans; #14f(i) compares the faulted run (which serves
no fold) against the fold-off control.

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
… forbodyslotcheck, forrankordercheck (rule 4)

- forbudgetmonotoncheck #5: the frozen-share sig comparison reads the fold-off twin of the default (the soft
target carries no fold, so no C3 pair).
- forbodyslotcheck: every slot arm reads the fold-off answer; new (FX): with the fold on, the slot's <bodies>
is the fold-off answer's byte for byte and the owner is never repeated in the fold.
- forrankordercheck (3): the 4% growth band reads the answer before its fold additions (the element, its
  clause, the hop-calls next= clause, the C3 pair) — the FOLD C precedent; (9) reads the signatures-only
re-call off the fold-off twin; new (9f): the fold answer carries the same call as sigs_next=.

… clause; reuse classLike

- spliceFoldSigsNext is a no-op when every candidate was served: the <sigs> continuation stays the
  signatures-only re-call (forsoftbudgetcheck NX2/NX4/D4: a cut element keeps a continuation).
- the compact dialect gets its own fold clause (260 B; the full one 476 B); compactlegendcheck reads the
fold-off answers for its dialect pins and bills, and (FOLD-L) bills the fold clause in both dialects.
- the member slice's class test reuses ReceiverEvidence::classLike, and the constructor spellings are a
sorted data table (quality-delta: two duplication findings).
- forsoftbudgetcheck (C3) reads the markup-rate floor without the <fold> element (its bodies are priced at
  the body rate, forbodyfoldcheck F6).

…ape-aware estimate, format

B1: symbolQueryJson's calledBy sites and next keys become plain statements instead of
?: expressions (an xvalue/prvalue arm pair, and string temporaries inside the root's long
concatenation), and callersByteBand returns one aggregate built from a local instead of a
named return object shared by two returns and named by a release [[assume]]. No output
change; aimed at the gcc-14 Release (LTO) rc=139 in MCP find_symbol that CI showed.
N1: the estimate measures n= and p= XML-escaped, as the row prints them (<file-scope>).
N2/M2: neighbourcapcheck (26)/(27) pin that the estimate counts sites_at= and the escaping.
N3: the knob comment says the band bounds row bytes (whole answers measured to 18,455 B).
B2: clang-format src/graphlegend.h.

…only through an in-tree qualifier; augmented assignment rebinds

A parameter, annotated local or TS field written `mod.T` / `ns.T<...>` was read by its final segment, so an
outside type (`s: requests.Session`, `s: ext.Session<T>`) proved an in-tree Session's methods. The capture now
keeps the qualified text and ReceiverEvidence keeps the class only when the qualifier's root is bound by the
file's imports to an in-tree module, package or path, or names an in-tree class or namespace (one per-language
rule row beside Go's package rule).

A Python `x op= v` rebinds x to what the operator returns: x keeps its class only when the method Python calls
(the in-place one, else the binary fallback) provably returns that class (`return self` on every path, or a
`-> Self` / `-> C` annotation); otherwise x is name-only, in ReceiverEvidence and in Rule 2's table. A JS
`x op= v` rebinds as a plain JS reassignment does. kParserVer 194 (the train renumbers).

Gate: test/receiverevidencecheck.sh arm (Q).

…in-place dunder that can fall through hedges

- receiverevidence.h: the operatorResult sort orders .first then sortutil::svLess on .second, and the lookup
searches by .first with an explicit comparator (portablebuildcheck #6/#6b, the Linux G1 abort).
- ingest_binds.h pythonBlockTerminates: "returns self" now also needs a body that cannot fall off its end into an
  implicit `return None` (a loop / try / match tail, or an `if` without `else`, hedges).
- receiverevidencecheck (Q): [N] aug_fallthrough (red on fbf763f), [P] aug_both_branches, [P] same-file
`Wrap.Part` (mutant MA), [N] TS `dup` bound in-tree and foreign (mutant MD).
- CHANGELOG: the self rule worded as implemented; the Python 'u' import-verdict floor named. kParserVer comment
matches the OperatorResult kind and the JS constructedBy record (the train renumbers).

…le read, each body once, legend defines <b>

B1: the fold renders bodies without the field notes (a ranked row's note rides on its <d> row once;
fornotesjsoncheck XML/JSON parity); --max-tokens no longer switches the fold off (the answer's notice says
it is not read; shapingflagcheck (A)/(F)); the member slice reads member text through lexicalScanText, the
index's own reader, instead of a new readWholeFile call site (cppqualcheck 32); xplat R3 compares crlf-for
strictly outside its fold and, inside it, modulo CR bytes and skip bytes= as crlf-expand is.
B2: both fold clauses define b t= n= p= l= and the slice/skip p= n= l=; compactlegendcheck runs fold-on
(ripwire.for/v1 820 -> 1100 measured 1088, (L) 7,900 -> 8,200 measured 8,157, A-PIN for.xml re-anchored,
(U-twin-fold) keeps 820 on the fold-off answer).
N2: a ranked row inside a served body counts as served; a ranked body holding served ranked bodies replaces
them. N3: slice words match a member's name or its text past the declaration line (no receiver/params).
N4: forbodyfoldcheck S4 (unranked constructor leads the slice; kills M2), S5 (Go receiver), N1, L1, F8m.
N5: forrankordercheck fold_exempt counts only ranked hop rows' next= — and its python no longer has a
SyntaxError that left (3) checking no query.

A reachable="0" --path answer (and MCP path_between) listed only where
the FORWARD search went blind (<gap> rows). The reader closing the gap
by hand also walks back from to=: on htop,
--path=ScreenManager_run,LinuxMachine_scanCPUTime met a declined call in
checkRecalculation, but nothing named the Linux Machine_scan, the sink's
only caller and the definition that call could have meant.

src/pathgaps.h pathNearSink walks to='s proven callers back over
resolved call edges to depth 2 and classifies how each symbol (to=
itself included) may also be entered with no edge: declined (a declined
call's candidate list holds it), value (stored or passed as a value),
through (a call through a parameter or slot is matched to that value),
name (a by-name call went to a same-language, same-kind namesake and has
no edge to it), external (none of those and no proven caller: no indexed
way in was found). Each row names one such site (in= its enclosing
definition, site= file:line) and met="1" when the forward search reached
that site. <near_sink depth= callers= rows= [rows_capped=]> shows at
most 4 <ns> rows (reasoned rows first, met first, then depth), and
next= lists the first row's callers. A to= declaration is never a row.

Rows are hedges, never hops and not proof a path exists; both legends
say so. Every reachable="1" answer is byte-identical; the reachable="0"
hint and gap clause are unchanged. One analysis and one emitter for both
transports.

Gate: test/pathgapcheck.sh S1-S12 (htop/koa/through/name/external
shapes, depth and row caps, a near miss, the plain hint kept, a found
path without a block, next= pastes, both legends; red on base) and (M)
compares the block MCP vs CLI byte for byte. compactlegendcheck:
ripwire.path/v1 and MCP path_between re-pinned 550/540 -> 860 (measured
844), with a (U-twin-path) arm holding the rest at 550. printf parity:
the path label re-pinned (reachable="0" on the fixture).

`--callees=getTemplate` on nunjucks listed what getTemplate's own body
calls, but `const createTemplate = ( err, info ) => { … new Template( … )
… }` is a definition of its own, so Template was in no row, though the
reader asking what getTemplate calls counts every call written in its
body. The same shape hides koa's `const handleResponse = () =>
respond( ctx )` inside Application.handleRequest, hono's `dispatch`
inside compose, and every Python helper `def` written inside a `def`.

src/closures.h reads closure containment off the parser's own spans:
per file, the scope-opening definitions (functions, methods, classes,
structs, interfaces) sorted by start, and a stack of the open ones. A
function-like definition whose innermost enclosing definition is itself
function-like is that one's closure; a member of a class written inside
a function is not. Language-neutral by construction (spans and kinds,
no Lang:: compare); anonymous closures are no definition and their calls
already belong to the enclosing one. Computed at query time, so no
cached content changes and no parser version bump.

--callees (XML, --json, columnar) carries closures=K and one
<in n= p= via="closure" count=> block per closure (any depth, at most 4,
closures_capped="1" past that) listing that closure's own callees (at
most 8, capped="1" and a next= past that). A block is containment, not a
call edge: its rows are in no count=. The --path <near_sink> rows gain
why="closure" (in= the enclosing function, site= the closure's own
definition). A function with no closure keeps its bytes.

Gate: test/pathgapcheck.sh C1-C8 (nunjucks shape, count unchanged,
Python depth 1 and 2, a class member near miss, a closure-free answer,
--json, both legends, near_sink why=closure on the koa shape; C1/C3/C6/
C7/C8 red on the commit-1 binary). printf parity: the path label
re-pinned (the ns reading gains "closure"); compactlegendcheck path 852 B
inside the same 860 B pin.

…-first

Two changes to the declined-call <dc> rows (IX-4):

orderDeclinedSites sorted the sites by file path, then line, so a test
file whose path sorts first led the list (hono's
src/helper/css/index.test.tsx among the source sites of
`--callers=src/router.ts:match`). The file key is now the path TIER
first (filter.h pathTierOf: source, then test/bench, then docs — the
key the callers and uses rows already sort by), then path; the callers
form's file-first interleave is unchanged.

--impact counted declined_calls= (the declines that could have reached
SYM or a symbol in its radius) and named none of them, pointing at the
callers verb. It now prints the callers-form <dc> rows of exactly those
calls (declinedsites.h impactDeclinedRows: the same records, order, cut
and spelling as --callers, so uncut the row count equals
declined_calls=), capped at 16 with dc_shown=/dc_next=, on the CLI XML,
--json ("dc"), columnar (the rows verbatim) and the MCP twin. The legend
uses the rows clause instead of the pointer.

On hono, `--impact=match` now names 16 of its 339 declined sites; the
src/helper/dev/index.ts:77 site is the 18th (dc_next= lists it), because
hono's benchmarks/ and perf-measures/ trees are not in the bench tier.

Gate: test/declinedsitecheck.sh h_impact (flipped: impact now lists the
row), h_impact_legend, h_tier_order, h_impact_order, h_impact_json,
h_impact_columnar (all red on the commit-2 binary).

…ps; glob endpoints

The forward <gap> rows say where the search went blind and <near_sink>
where the backward one did; neither joined them. On htop the reader
still had to see that checkRecalculation's declined Machine_scan() could
mean the Linux build, whose callee is the sink (IX-2 P1, gated: the
offline gate found a <= 2-crossing chain on htop-14, koa-14 and
nunjucks-21 but not textual-11, median fan-out 2 — GO).

src/pathgaps.h pathBridge runs only on a reachable="0" answer: a layered
search where every symbol reachable with k crossings over resolved edges
comes before any with k+1, crossing at most 2 hops the graph holds no
edge for, each fanning out to at most 16 candidates — a declined call's
candidates, the functions a symbol stores or passes as values
(ValueRefIndex::targetsOf), the closures written in its body
(src/closures.h), and the unsearched same-language namesakes of a call
bound by name alone. <bridge proven="0" crossings= hops=> lists the
chain as path-like <s> rows, via= (and cands=) naming each crossing.
It is not a path: reachable= and hops= stay 0 and no count includes it.

P4: an endpoint that names no definition and holds a `*` (no file:
qualifier) stands for every function or method definition whose name
fits it, so `--path=post_message,on_*` on Textual answers (rc=0, with
to_glob="1") instead of "endpoint not found". A resolvable name is never
read as a pattern. The near-sink rows sort by path tier within a depth,
so a glob's docs examples no longer lead.

P5 (next= on a reachable="1" path) is deliberately NOT here: it would
change every found path's bytes, which this lane's gates hold identical.

Gate: test/pathgapcheck.sh B1-B10 (htop shape, koa shape with two
closures, value, namesake, the crossing and fan-out bounds both sides,
a disconnected pair, a found path, both legends) and G1-G3 (a glob
reaches its handler, a non-matching pattern is refused, a plain endpoint
carries no glob attribute); (M) compares <bridge> and the glob root MCP
vs CLI. Red on the commit-3 binary.

…ERT, not a release [[assume]]

gcc 14.2 (ubuntu-24.04 g++-14) -O2 -flto miscompiled the [[assume( cap > 0 )]] over the
lane's new ?: and served a 40-row window over a 3-row list in MCP find_symbol /
find_referencing_symbols and --batch: rc=139 on every call. Same commit with only this
line removed: rc=0 (debug run 39134346019). No output change.

…n; keep ENSURES( cap > 0 )

Replaces e233970's DASSERT with the owner's rule: ASSUME only a true invariant,
and state it fully. cap > 0 rests on int( rowTotal ) of a served-whole total,
which fits an int because callersByteBand estimates only totals <= 16000/30 rows.
That precondition is now an EXPECTS. With it, the gcc 14.2 -O2 -flto build that
served a 40-row window over a 3-row list (rc=139) answers rc=0 (debug run
39137965028, candidate A; the restructure alone, candidate B, still crashed).
Restores callersByteBand's ENSURES that the site pass covers every row (true:
rowCallSites ENSURES it). No output change.

references lives in §3 (Data-oriented layout), so the reference is unchanged.

A hand-check of the closure blocks and bridges on random in-sample
queries (lane ix2-slice's hedge acceptance measurement) found three
shapes no fixture had:

- `post: function _post( … ) { … }` (fastify) and `compile: function
compile( … )` (nunjucks): the parser reports the property and the
function expression as two definitions with one end. The expression
was read as a closure of the property (and both as closures of the
enclosing function). src/closures.h now treats a function that ends
where its parent function ends as that parent's own value: the
expression, which owns the body's calls, takes the property's place,
and the property is no closure.
- htop's InfoScreen_run: a macro-heavy `else if (…) {` read as a
function named `if` inside the body became a "closure". C, C++ and
Objective-C have no named nested function, so a nested function span
there is a misread: a langfacts.h column (noNestedNamedFunctions),
read once, no language compare (langidentitycheck ratchet 346 =
  ceiling).
- Bridges through minified vendored jQuery/less under docs/ and through
test helpers: pathBridge no longer routes THROUGH a symbol filter.h's
rank tiers de-prioritize (test, bench, demo, generated, minified) —
it may start or end at one — and a chain past 8 hops is not shown.

Gate: test/pathgapcheck.sh H1-H4 (red on the commit-4 binary); B10's
legend phrase follows the new bound.

The six emitTo sites in src/wrap.h rebuilt each AgentTarget string_view field (displayName, contextFile,
contextNote, caveat, mcpAddPre) as std::string_view( x.data(), static_cast<int>( x.size() ) ): a leftover of
the printf %.*s conversion that narrows size_t to int and back. Every field is already a std::string_view,
so the field itself is passed. Output unchanged: `ripwire wrap AGENT` is byte-identical before/after for all
9 agent rows and the 5 --mcp-tools=core rows (differential against a pure-main binary at the same path).

Add clang-analyzer-cplusplus.InnerPointer to the list of gating checks.

This PR adds clang-analyzer-cplusplus.InnerPointer to GATING in scripts/tidycheck.sh (line 36). It also records the check as gated in .clang-tidy (lines 35–38). Include infra/platform.h directly in src/gitmine.h.

RW_LIFETIMEBOUND is currently provided through profileScope.h → fastmath.h → platform.h. These declarations depend on that transitive include chain. Add the direct include so gitmine.h owns the macro it uses.

Narrow the language-fact comment.

noNestedNamedFunctions only controls closure relationships. It does not remove symbols, call edges, or ordinary output rows. The class/struct scope boundary also prevents a C++ local-class method from being treated as a closure.

The comment is broader than the implemented language model. State that directly nested function-like spans are treated as parser misreads by this model, and exclude methods inside local classes. Do not add symbol or edge filtering.

Suggested documentation fix
- /// C, C++, Objective-C: the language has no NAMED function definition inside another function (a lambda or a block is

…s pattern cap

Rule A put every enum name in src/ into ONE #match? alternation. Train 31's new
enums (ClosureRole, NearSinkKind, BridgeVia, WrittenQualifierRule) took it to
183 names / 2050 bytes, past kRegexMaxPatternBytes (2048, src/regexguard.h),
which --match refuses by name (a recursion stack bound, not a budget). The scan
exited 3 and the gate failed with "the src/ scan did not complete:" and an
empty reason on every CI leg that runs it. The cap is NOT raised: it is a
measured stack bound, and the engine's own refusal says to split the pattern.

- The names now go into anchored alternations of at most 1024 bytes each
(3 parts on src/ today). The names are distinct and every pattern is
anchored, so each site matches exactly one part; rows are counted per
(file, function, enum), so the split changes no verdict. Measured: src/ at
  3 parts vs a forced 6 parts gives byte-identical a/b1/b2/c/d/e tables.
- New arm (A-split): the probe gains a cast-free enum that sorts first; a
forced one-enum-per-part scan must give the same 14-line verdict. Mutant
(scan only the first part) turns it red.
- SCANOK reports enum_rx_parts; a scan failure now prints its last non-empty
line, and shardmatch.py elides a long quoted pattern so the engine's reason
survives the 1200-byte cut (was: the tail of the echoed query only).

Red-first: c0921f0's gate rc=1 (L28 "the src/ scan did not complete: ");
this commit rc=0 on the same binary.

… the binary)

danglingwarncheck compiles planted lifetime bugs with the CMakeLists.txt fence
flags; it never binds or runs ripwire (it prints BIN=n/a and contains neither
RIPWIRE_BIN nor $BIN). Arm (4) therefore saw it stay green against the
failing sentinel on the Release gcc leg. The fix is the gate's own pinned
EXEMPT row with the verified reason, not a change to binoverridecheck's
logic; (2b)'s static tell covers the row with no special case.

The crlf-for (nf, python3) and crlf-expand (nx) comparisons ran their
normalisers inside process substitutions, so a missing or empty input, or a
normaliser that failed, gave two empty streams that diff -q called equal and
R3 passed vacuously. Both now go through normeq: each input must exist and be
non-empty, each normaliser must succeed and print something, and only then are
the two results compared; anything else is an R3 FAIL by name.

Red-first (scratch dirs, both sides without tree-for/crlf-for/tree-expand/
crlf-expand): before, R3 PASS; after, 4 named FAILs. A real difference still
FAILs and a CR/est_tokens-only difference still PASSes.

CodeRabbit comment 4310719465 (PR #418); the crlf-expand loop is the same
shape one block below and is fixed with it.

…e-kind namesake rule

kPathBridgeLegend said the chain runs through no test, bench, demo, generated
or minified symbol; since train 31's declaration tier, routable (tier
multiplier >= 1) also keeps a .d.ts/.pyi twin whose package ships its
implementation off the interior of a chain. Its namesake crossing matches on
(lang, kind, name) (sameKey), but the legend said only "same-language". Both
sentences now state what the code does; the CHANGELOG bridge bullet says the
same. Full legend only (present when a bridge is printed); the compact row is
unchanged; no `--` added.

Both headers use RW_LIFETIMEBOUND (lifetime round) and got it only through
profileScope.h -> fastmath.h -> platform.h. CodeRabbit review 5567434964
nitpick on src/gitmine.h:1387-1389 (PR #418); quality.h is the one other user
with the same gap.

…es.h does

The comment said C/C++/ObjC have no named function inside a function; a C++
local class's methods are named. They are kept out of the closure relation by
the class's Scope role on the open stack, not by this fact. The comment now
says the fact reads a function span DIRECTLY inside a function as a misread,
decides only the closure relation, and why lambdas, blocks and local-class
methods are not closures either way. Comment only.

quality-delta (prereview, vs origin/main) read nx as newly dead code once it
was only passed to normeq by name. normeq now takes for|expand and normalise
calls nf / nx directly. Same verdicts on the scratch scenarios (missing,
equal after normalising, real difference, a normaliser that prints nothing).

CodeRabbit review on c0921f0: 6 findings (3 inline, 1 outside the diff, 2 nitpicks). All 6 checked against the code and fixed:

  • CHANGELOG cross-reference direction (above, not below).
  • scripts/ci-xplat-diff.sh: the R3 normalised comparisons no longer pass on empty or failed normaliser output (crlf-for and crlf-expand).
  • --path bridge legend: names the declaration-twin exclusion and the same-kind namesake rule, matching the routing code.
  • CONTRIBUTING: clang-analyzer-cplusplus.InnerPointer listed among the gated tidy checks.
  • gitmine.h and quality.h include infra/platform.h for RW_LIFETIMEBOUND directly.
  • langfacts.h: the noNestedNamedFunctions comment states what the closure index does.
CI on the PR head had three red classes:
  • hazardpatterncheck: rule A's single enum-name alternation reached 2050 bytes, past the --match pattern limit (2048, a stack
bound). The rule now splits the alternation into anchored parts of at most 1024 bytes; the limit is unchanged, and a new arm
proves the split changes no verdict.
  • binoverridecheck: danglingwarncheck is compile-only and never runs the binary; it is now in the gate's exemption list with
    the verified reason.
  • cppqualcheck --uses timeout under ASan on ubuntu: the gate applies its 30 s alarm to the ASan binary instead of the longer ASan budget; tracked separately, not changed here.
Only output change: --path --legend=full answers that print a bridge carry the reworded legend sentence.
Fixes: 4a272c5..e6dec3c (9 commits); full CI on the fix head: run 39228263039.

Outside-diff and nitpick findings (no inline thread): CONTRIBUTING InnerPointer list (91f2204), gitmine.h/quality.h direct platform.h include (b0e18d0), langfacts.h comment (755f148).

Commit by finding: 4a272c5 hazardpatterncheck split; 67b53a8 binoverridecheck exemption for danglingwarncheck; 58d743a CHANGELOG direction; 620cfa1 ci-xplat-diff R3 normaliser check; 55227c2 --path bridge legend; 91f2204 CONTRIBUTING InnerPointer; b0e18d0 platform.h includes; 755f148 langfacts.h comment; e6dec3c ci-xplat-diff normeq dispatch.
