Ricardo Aguilera

Software engineer. I build full-stack systems in TypeScript and JavaScript, run them on AWS, and put AI into production with tests and a person still approving what goes live.

Specializations

Python. Architecture review, delivery governance, and quality standards for Python backend teams. Personal coding on Python has been limited.

JavaScript. Hands-on production work in TypeScript, React, Next.js, Vue, Node.js, Express, GraphQL, and REST. Redux is part of that React stack.

AWS. Platforms delivered on EC2, Lambda, EKS, API Gateway, S3, RDS, VPC, CloudWatch, and SNS, with Terraform, CloudFormation, and AWS CDK. Blue/green and canary releases. AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional is in progress.

AI. Production systems on OpenAI, Amazon Bedrock, and LangChain that retrieve context, choose a next step, and call tools: an SOP knowledge assistant, a customer-support copilot with human review, and an event-driven operations workflow. Support information lookup fell by as much as 60–90%. I also set how GitHub Copilot, Cursor, and Claude Code enter an engineering SDLC, including MCP integrations and review of model-generated changes.

Selected work

  • Multi-tenant SaaS with more than 10 million active users. NPS moved from about 60% to about 85%, with about 40% less time in key workflows.
  • Internal operations platform for a product with about 500K monthly active users, including the three production AI systems above.
  • Data platform moved to Snowflake across 3,000+ PostgreSQL tables: about 10× reporting speed and about 40% lower infrastructure cost. Reporting built with SQL and dbt.
  • Healthcare workforce platform with HIPAA-oriented access controls, audit logging, and protected APIs.
  • Engineering organizations from zero to about 10 people, and later up to 50+ engineers across eight pods.

Led the practice and worked in the tools

Technology Capacity
Terraform, CloudFormation, AWS CDK Infrastructure as code, blue/green deployments, canary releases
Kubernetes (EKS), GCP Delivery on EKS and on GCP
GitHub Actions, Bitbucket Pipelines, CircleCI, Jenkins CI/CD and release governance
CloudWatch, Datadog, Sentry Observability: logging, metrics, alerting, tracing
OpenAI, Amazon Bedrock, LangChain Designed and governed the production AI systems, including RAG, structured outputs, tool calling, evaluation, and human review
GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code, MCP Daily engineering rollout, with rules, review gates, and SDLC vetting
RBAC, audit logging, protected APIs HIPAA-oriented and SOC2-oriented controls for PII

Architecture review and delivery governance

Personal coding on these stacks has been limited. The work was architecture review, delivery governance, and quality standards.

Technology Capacity
Python Led Python backend teams at that altitude
Go Same altitude as Python
.NET Led .NET backend teams at that altitude

In the technical inventory

These are part of the platform expertise. The role notes do not describe a separate hands-on delivery story for each one.

Redux, Angular, Kafka, Redis, Elasticsearch, ECS, SQS, EventBridge, IAM, Cognito.
