Creating an intermediate list uses$O(N)$ memory and increases peak memory usage significantly for large bit vectors. Itertools
isliceachieves the same skipping functionality lazily and without memory overhead.📊 Measured Improvement: We established a performance baseline using a 409600 length
BitVectorwith alternating values.Using tracemalloc, peak memory usage dropped by roughly 50%:
