The maintainer's instruction (2026-10-03): the repository root was cluttered with tooling, two test folders and retired code. The root now holds only pyproject.toml, README.md, LICENSE, PROJECT.md, AGENTS.md, pythonx/, tests/, docs/, .github/, .gitignore and .gitattributes (plus the maintainer's untracked UI.ipynb). Move table: issue #60. Develop's head before this change is tagged archive/pre-restructure (15b6fe7), so every deleted file stays reachable. deleted (preserved in archive/pre-restructure): - test/ -- the 2023-24 Kotlin Multiplatform sample (pycomposeui, 72 files); - pythonx/compose/lite/ -- the retired 2024 JPype prototype (116 files, 97 of them binaries); - the pythonx/compose/native submodule (thisisthepy/swing-graalvm-demo at 090f0190) and .gitmodules; - pythonx/compose/test/main.py and ui/unit/dp.py, docstring-only records (dp.py's note folded into ui/unit/__init__.py). moved: - tools/gen_stubs.py -> pythonx/_build/gen_stubs.py (no __init__.py, so not in the wheel); the stubs' header line names the new path, regenerated; - tools/check_guide.py -> .github/scripts/check_guide.py, now also run by tests/test_guide.py; - tools/release/ -> .github/scripts/release/; release-sync.yml follows. AGENTS.md: section 2 gains "Do not add top-level folders" (the maintainer's instruction, relayed by the ecosystem lead): nothing new at the root without a proposal and approval, with the standing entries listed; sections 3, 4, 14, 16 and 17 follow the new paths, and test/, lite/ and native are no longer open decisions. INTENT 4.2 is closed; PROJECT.md, SPEC (outside-intent items, counts) and the guide's status FAQ follow. Drafted by a subagent in a worktree; reviewed, counts corrected and staged set checked here. test added: tests/test_guide.py. test removed: the two legacy checks of the deleted lite/ and test/main.py. Suite: with python-multiplatform 26485a02 (worktree), 245 passed, 1 skipped -> 244 passed, 1 skipped; without a checkout, 134 passed, 112 skipped -> 133 passed, 112 skipped. Each module alone passes; the wheel test builds without pythonx/_build; release test 49 passed, 0 failed; check_guide: 0 findings. Refs #60
