test(composio): serve module_guard's storage without the process slot - #8480
The composio connector module's test guard, module_guard(), no longer installs a memory backend in the process-wide storage slot. It serves that backend only to module storage callbacks, through a test-only store that modules::storage_hostLive::backend() reads.
module_guard installed a fresh memory backend in the process slot for its caller's whole test, because "a module call carries no workspace for the host to fall back to". The slot is every store's first choice (storage::local::backend_for). #8473 hides a test-installed slot from other test threads, but work a test does on a worker or module thread can't be attributed to a test, so it still saw the composio test's backend. For example, skills::catalog opens storage in spawn_blocking.
A file-logged diagnostic of every slot install showed module_guard callers as the writers in the MAIN-57 run.
Solution
New #[cfg(test)]TEST_MODULE_STORAGE in modules/storage_host.rs, read only by Live::backend(), in this order: installed slot → test module storage → ambient workspace default.
module_guard sets it through serve_test_module_storage under its existing MODULE_LOCK and restores it on drop. General store lookups never see it.
The ModuleGuard storage field is gated on modules, since there are no module calls to serve without the loader.
scope_gate::an_unreadable_preference_denies_at_every_gate simulated a storage outage by clearing the process slot. It now withdraws the served module storage (withdraw_test_module_storage), keeping storage::clear() when built without modules.
A process-statics record for TEST_MODULE_STORAGE is added.
Remaining (not fixed here)
The last 8 failures on the MAIN-57 filter set (6 flows::builder_tools, 2–6 skills::catalog, varying) have one remaining slot writer: skills::bundled::flow_authoring::builtin_is_hidden_until_the_legacy_flow_import_completes. It installs a sqlite backend on purpose, to test the boot-time legacy-flow import. During its window, the catalog's spawn_blocking opens and the flows copilot's catalog_storageDocScope (backend_for_async on the module runtime) read that slot from non-test threads.
Closing #8467 needs tests that legitimately install the slot to run outside the parallel process, using test-reusable.yml's existing serial list plus a drift check. That's planned as a follow-up.
Submission Checklist
Tests added or updated: scope_gate::an_unreadable_preference_denies_at_every_gate now simulates its outage on the module storage it is served. All 376 tests in integrations::composio::, modules::connectors and flows::caps_host::ops_tier_gate_and_timeouts pass.

…s slot
module_guard installed a memory backend in the process-wide storage slot for
its whole test, because a module call carries no workspace for the host to
fall back to. That made it every concurrent test's storage, including work
on worker and module threads (skills::catalog, flows::builder_tools), which
the test-owned slot of tinyhumansai#8473 cannot attribute (tinyhumansai#8467).
Serve it through a test-only module storage that only the storage host's
Live::backend reads, set and restored under the module's test lock.

Full summary
Pull request purpose (title): test(composio): serve module_guard's storage without the process slot. This PR, titled "test(composio): serve module_guard's storage without the process slot", moves the composio connector module's test-time storage out of the process-wide installed slot into a test-only slot that is consulted only for the connector module while it holds the module lock, addressing concurrent-test interference described as MAIN-57; the remaining MAIN-57 failures are explicitly scoped out as a follow-up. The author reports no runtime behavior change since every new item and call site is `#[cfg(test)]`.

Completeness: Complete Test assessment: No supported feature-to-test mapping was available; this does not mean tests are absent or passed.
What changed
A new `backend_choice` module is declared at `#[path = "storage_host_backend.rs"]` from `crates/openhuman-core/src/modules/storage_host.rs` and exposes `for_module(module, environment)`, which under `cfg(test)` returns the connector module's served test backend for the connector module id and otherwise falls through to the host's `environment.backend()`. The file also holds the test-only `TEST_MODULE_STORAGE` mutex, `test_module_storage()`, `serve_test_module_storage()`, `withdraw_test_module_storage()`, and a `TestModuleStorage` drop guard that restores the previous backend. `StorageHost::bind` now obtains its backend through `backend_choice::for_module` instead of calling `self.environment.backend()` directly. In `crates/openhuman-core/src/integrations/composio/module_client.rs`, `ModuleGuard`'s storage field switches to `backend_choice::TestModuleStorage` (gated on the `modules` feature) and `module_guard()` serves rather than installs a memory backend. `crates/openhuman-core/src/integrations/composio/tools/scope_gate_tests.rs` updates `an_unreadable_preference_denies_at_every_gate` to withdraw served module storage when `modules` is enabled and retain `storage::clear()` otherwise. `scripts/ci/process-statics.json` records the static against the new file path.
Features
Added — Per-module backend selection for module storage binding: `StorageHost::bind` resolves a module's backend through `backend_choice::for_module`, which under `cfg(test)` serves the connector module its test-provided storage and otherwise falls through to the host environment's backend. (crates/openhuman-core/src/modules/storage_host.rsimpl StorageHost {, crates/openhuman-core/src/modules/storage_host.rspub(crate) fn current_module_scope()
Added — Test-only module storage slot with serve, withdraw and restore helpers: A `TEST_MODULE_STORAGE` mutex with `serve_test_module_storage`, `withdraw_test_module_storage` and a `TestModuleStorage` drop guard lets connector-module tests serve and then remove a backend without touching the process slot, so it is never another concurrent test's storage (MAIN-57). (crates/openhuman-core/src/modules/storage_host.rsimpl StorageHost {, crates/openhuman-core/src/integrations/composio/module_client.rspub(crate) static MODULE_LOCK: tokio::sync::Mutex<()> = tokio::sync::Mutex::cons)
Internal refactor — `module_guard` storage source changed from process installation to served module storage: The guard restores the previous served storage on drop instead of restoring a process slot; the storage field is absent when the `modules` feature is off, and general store lookups never observe the test module storage. (crates/openhuman-core/src/integrations/composio/module_client.rspub(crate) static MODULE_LOCK: tokio::sync::Mutex<()> = tokio::sync::Mutex::cons)
Added — Process-statics record for the new test-only static: `TEST_MODULE_STORAGE` is registered in the process-statics inventory against the new file, with a test-only rationale and a verification pointer, keeping the statics check aligned with the code. (scripts/ci/process-statics.json)

Lane summary: The change routes the connector module's storage binding through a new test-only backend slot instead of installing it in the process-wide storage slot, and updates the existing guard to serve and withdraw that slot. `an_unreadable_preference_denies_at_every_gate` is exercised against the new path (save while served, withdraw, assert every gate denies), and `a_saved_pref_survives_a_deferred_legacy_migration` covers the serve path, so the new branch and the withdrawal path both have tests that would fail if the behaviour regressed. I found no reportable defect. _The code index is behind this pull request (indexed at `aea3da445557`), so retrieved context may be out of date._

Conclusion: Success
Scope reviewed: all assigned evidence
Lane summary: The change moves `module_guard`'s test storage out of the process-wide slot into a test-only `TEST_MODULE_STORAGE` read only by `backend_choice::for_module`, which is exactly what the description claims: all new items and call sites are `#[cfg(test)]`, the `ModuleGuard` storage field is gated on the `modules` feature, `scope_gate`'s outage test now withdraws the served storage, and a `process-statics` record is added. The description matches the diff, including the stated remaining failures, and I found nothing in the changed code that misbehaves for a reachable input or violates a repository rule. _The code index is behind this pull request (indexed at `aea3da445557`), so retrieved context may be out of date._

Walkthrough
StorageHost now selects a backend for each module, including a test-only backend for the connector module. Composio test setup serves that backend through module storage rather than the process-wide storage slot.

Summary
Select and serve module test storage crates/openhuman-core/src/modules/storage_host_backend.rs, crates/openhuman-core/src/modules/storage_host.rs, scripts/ci/process-statics.json
StorageHost::bind selects a backend through backend_choice::for_module. In test builds, the connector module uses the optional test backend when present; otherwise, selection uses the environment backend. The test-only slot supports withdrawal and restores its previous value when its guard drops.
Use module storage in Composio tests crates/openhuman-core/src/integrations/composio/module_client.rs, crates/openhuman-core/src/integrations/composio/tools/scope_gate_tests.rs
ModuleGuard serves module test storage instead of installing a host backend. The scope-gate test withdraws the module backend before testing the subsequent read.
Issue 8467: This change avoids the process-wide storage slot for Composio module test setup, addressing one source of the reported concurrent test failures.
Issue 8427: This change selects module test storage for callbacks, but does not change the auth profile store path described in the issue.

The Composio test-storage collision is addressed, but the outage test can still use fallback storage instead of exercising an outage. This is a bounded test-isolation risk that can be fixed or explicitly accepted before merging.

The test storage module_guard serves was a fallback for every module's
storage callbacks, behind the installed slot. Choose the backend per module
when binding: the connector module's served storage first under cfg(test),
so neither another module's calls nor a concurrently installed slot can
reach the other's state; every other module binds the host's backend as
before.
After withdrawal, Live::backend() can still use an installed backend or the ambient workspace fallback. If GET_USER_SCOPES succeeds through that backend, load_user_scope_pref returns Ok, and the test fails at assert!(read.is_err()) instead of exercising the intended unavailable-module branch.
Prevent the module call from reaching installed or ambient fallback storage after withdrawal. This is a test-isolation concern, not a major production behavior issue.
