When an audio-only .m4a file uses a generic ISO-BMFF major brand such as isom or mp42, this branch returns video/mp4 before the .m4a extension can identify it as audio/mp4. Since these brands describe the container rather than whether it contains audio or video, valid audio uploads can be sent through video capability routing; inspect the tracks or let audio-specific extensions refine these ambiguous brands.

Hosts need to retain arbitrary uploads and replay media without putting inline payloads into transcript text. This adds a generic original-byte resolver, bounded ZIP/TAR listings, durable audio/video/document path and URL parts, explicit PDF/video catalog facts, and faithful PNG derivatives. Existing text/image transcript shapes remain compatible; new media parts require an updated reader.
ZIP metadata admission precedes eager allocation, archives are never extracted, and transport gzip is distinguished from genuine compressed uploads. PNG derivatives preserve pixels and non-image-data chunks, skip animation, and are returned only when smaller.
Fresh validation from the repository root:
All 82 multimodal tests and 57 registry tests plus doctest pass. Earlier validation covered the full harness/session suites and feature-disabled builds. Regressions verify AVIF/HEIC/HEIF and audio/video brand detection, normalized omitted data-URI MIME, generic data-URI MIME parity, signature precedence over extensions, canonical legacy media envelopes, all seed video flags/profile mappings, archive limits and durable transcript compatibility. The seed flags were regenerated offline from checked-in raw records, preserving retrieval provenance and curated aliases.
