fix(module): preserve setup factory admission and release lifecycle captures - #49
Conversation
The reinitialize callback is now held behind a mutex so shutdown can take it and in-flight reinitializations finish before the runtime stops, and late calls see a tombstone. Setup factories are shared by reference instead of cloned, so a Clone implementation that deep-copies interior state can no longer detach initial admission from reinitialization. Start argument validation was also factored out and applied before configuration parsing or Auto-committed-on: dragonfly Co-authored-by: Medulla <medulla@tinyhumans.ai>
…failure The reinitialize callback is now shared behind an Arc so the setup task can dispose it when setup fails terminally, since such a failure may never receive an ABI shutdown call. Disposal happens under the same lifecycle exclusion used by shutdown, preventing the callback from being leaked or invoked after fault. Add tests asserting that the setup factory's captured state is dropped exactly once when a module shuts down after a successful initial setup, and when initial setup panics and the module transitions to Faulted. Auto-committed-on: dragonfly Co-authored-by: Medulla <medulla@tinyhumans.ai>
The shutdown path held the callback lifecycle lock while stopping the runtime, which could deadlock against failed-setup cleanup that also touches the slot. The lock is now dropped once the callback is taken, so late calls still see a tombstone but task joining can proceed. Auto-committed-on: dragonfly Co-authored-by: Medulla <medulla@tinyhumans.ai>
The setup task bound the handshake match to a local and returned it on the next line, so the binding is dropped and the match is returned directly. Auto-committed-on: dragonfly Co-authored-by: Medulla <medulla@tinyhumans.ai>

around `failed_setup_callback` so it never synchronously waits on a mutex from a
Tokio worker. Coordinate with the `reinitialize` path without blocking the
runtime worker, while preserving callback disposal under lifecycle exclusion and
allowing the reinitialization timeout to make progress.

…p disposal Move the failed-setup callback disposal into an async helper so the synchronous mutex lock is not held across an await point on the runtime worker. Add a regression test asserting that disposal does not occupy the sole timer worker. Auto-committed-on: dragonfly Co-authored-by: Medulla <medulla@tinyhumans.ai>
…rker The failed-setup callback disposal now runs on a blocking thread so that waiting for the reinitialization lock cannot occupy the sole runtime worker needed to drive the setup future and its timer. Test modules were renamed to match the lib_ prefix convention. Auto-committed-on: dragonfly Co-authored-by: Medulla <medulla@tinyhumans.ai>
The failed-setup callback disposal now returns an error when its blocking task panics instead of silently discarding the join result, and the caller logs that failure. A regression test covers a compiled single-worker module whose timer must keep advancing before the fault is reported. Auto-committed-on: dragonfly Co-authored-by: Medulla <medulla@tinyhumans.ai>

TinyBus setup factory lifecycle follow-up

Ready canonical PR: #49

Only module SDK lifecycle code, sibling tests and module docs differ from that base. Both actionable PR49 threads were answered after fresh verification, and re-review was requested. Hosted checks and re-review for the current head remain pending. No downstream gitlink, module artifact or host consumption is claimed.
Changes
The factory callback is retained behind Arc and invoked by reference for initial setup and reinitialization. Its Clone behavior cannot detach admitted state. Factory creation follows complete ABI host/output/worker validation and initial configuration parsing. New unsafe public starters document their caller safety requirements.
The intentionally retained ABI tombstone holds a synchronized optional callback. Deinit waits for an active reinitializer, disposes the callback under that lock, then releases the lock before runtime shutdown. Late reinitializers see a closed tombstone. Poisoned callback locks still allow teardown.
Initial handshake/setup errors and setup panics dispose the callback before reporting Faulted. This is required because ModuleHost refuses stop on terminal Failed/Faulted instances. The failure observer awaits disposal on Tokio's blocking pool, observes the JoinHandle result, and explicitly handles disposal panic. It never waits synchronously on callback exclusion from a runtime worker.
Legacy setup callback semantics, ABI layout, configuration parsing and the existing reinitialization deadline remain compatible. Synchronous user callback construction is unchanged; this API does not preempt arbitrary blocking user callbacks. No connection, responder, stream or protocol code is changed in this follow-up. No new dependencies or host workaround.
The new test groups use the owning convention:
lib_lifecycle_tests.rsandlib_setup_factory_tests.rs.Regression evidence
Behavioral RED was observed before each fix for detached copying-Clone admission, retained captured state after ABI shutdown, three invalid ABI calls constructing the factory, and compiled setup failure retaining its capture (zero drops instead of one). Their corresponding GREEN tests also cover compiled successful shutdown, compiled setup panic, concurrent reinitialize/teardown and poison recovery.
The worker-progress regression failed before the disposal fix: callback disposal occupied the sole worker, so its timer could not advance while exclusion was held. The test always released exclusion before asserting, allowing clean RED teardown. Retained output:
failed_setup_disposal_keeps_single_runtime_worker_availablefailed with “callback disposal must not occupy the sole timer worker”; one failed, 40 filtered, process exit101. It passes after the fix.An actual compiled ModuleHost factory with
worker_threads = 1separately proves that deliberately blocked capture disposal permits its timer to advance, and Faulted follows observed disposal completion. Tests use an in-memory bus, compiled linked modules and local loader artifacts; no real service.Earlier target logs disappeared after the first corrected-source gates completed. Their inspected results and exit codes remain in tool history, but those files are not claimed present. Current-head GREEN evidence and the worker-progress RED were rerun and saved fresh.
