Summary

This delivery combines SDK recovery fixes with the compatible dependency remediation required by the repository security admission gate.

Bulk rollback previously rewound entire items and could discard peer titles, comments and other evidence added after a batch. It now reverses verified batch effects under the item lock, preserves unrelated context and refuses changed-field conflicts without partial item writes. Schema-2 checkpoints prevent older clients from applying their former restoration behavior; legacy checkpoints require explicit reviewed recovery.

The shared SDK rollback option now takes a checkpoint ID string and rejects invalid values before forward execution. Repeated or ineffective recovery reports skipped rows. Docs cover the type correction, collection guards and current ownership policy.

Compatible Zod, fast-uri and Undici security floors clear both independent advisory feeds. The latest upstream ext-apps package still embeds an older parser in unused development bundles; those bundles have no pm-cli runtime import and are excluded from its distribution. The future-adoption constraint is retained in pm-extapps-vendor-zod.

  • Required hosted full-source coverage passes at 100% lines/branches/functions/statements
  • Calendar release version policy passes
  • Credential scan passes
  • Packed npm/npx and Bun/bunx acceptance passes
  • PM files/tests/docs, structured closure and release of ownership recorded through the CLI

  • Existing AGENTS/README command routing remains applicable
  • CHANGELOG.md generated by the latest published pm-changelog package
  • No manual edits to .agents/pm/**

Test evidence

  • 144 focused checkpoint/lifecycle tests; 20 linked recovery/context tests.
  • The final reviewed head passes all 26 required checks, including 100% full-source coverage and static quality. The strengthened refusal controls compare full item state and history bytes after each rejection.
  • Final packed consumer acceptance passes across nine package workflows, including positive checkpoint-string and negative boolean type checks.
  • Independent Node and Bun temp-workspace probes verify peer-preserving update rollback, atomic drift refusal with unchanged item/history, and close rollback preserving peer notes.
  • Registry and OSV: zero findings across 567 locked packages; frozen installation, typecheck and development dependency checks pass.
  • Latest published release acceptance and the required recent-window Sentry/telemetry gate pass. Four opt-in command probes have fresh Sentry spans; inspected telemetry pairs and physical queues were verified separately.
  • Historical rolling Release Reliability remains a separate existing finding; this change does not rewrite its failure population.

Replace timestamp-wide bulk restoration with guarded inverse effects derived
from verified, checkpoint-attributed item history. Capture attribution at the
shared locked writer so custom messages and nested update-to-close operations
remain recoverable. Check every changed field against its committed postimage
before writing any inverse, retain unrelated peer annotations and metadata,
and report conflicts, failed rows and repeat no-ops truthfully.

Write schema-2 checkpoints so older clients refuse the new recovery format.
Refuse legacy timestamp checkpoints and unattributed recovery instead of
implicitly forcing ownership or overwriting later work. Preserve normal
mutation policy, lease fencing, immutable history and derived-index behavior.

Derive public bulk rollback options from the executable checkpoint-string
contract and reject invalid flat, nested and direct SDK inputs before forward
execution. Document the type correction, skipped rows, collection guards and
legacy recovery policy; include source and installed-package type controls.

Consolidate compatible security floors for Zod, fast-uri and Undici across the
complete development dependency graph. Keep registry and OSV checks mandatory;
record the unshipped upstream ext-apps bundle limitation separately. Retain
canonical GitHub intake, PM evidence, structured closure and generated
pm-changelog output for the combined delivery.

Verify focused lifecycle and recovery regressions, strict TypeScript consumers,
packed npm/npx and Bun/bunx package workflows, independent dependency feeds,
version policy, tracker history, Sentry and live telemetry delivery.

📝 Summary

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • Bug Fixes
    • Bulk update and close rollbacks now reverse only changes attributed to the batch, preserving unrelated later edits. Rows with no remaining effect are skipped; rows with conflicting changes are left unchanged.
    • Rollback now requires a checkpoint ID, and invalid values are rejected before execution.
  • Security
    • Updated workspace dependency version requirements to address advisories.
  • Documentation
    • Clarified bulk rollback behavior, skipped-row results, and compatibility limits.

Bulk update and close rollback now use checkpoint-attributed inverse changes with postimage checks. The SDK rollback option accepts checkpoint IDs and rejects invalid values. The pull request also updates dependency overrides and project tracking records.

Full details: Linked Issues check

Explanation

The PR satisfies the coding requirements for [#1563] and [#1564]. rollbackMutationCheckpoint reverses only checkpoint-attributed effects under item locking, verifies postimages before writes, preserves unrelated fields, rejects drift, excludes failed forward effects, and reports repeated or ineffective rows as skipped. Schema-2 checkpoints and legacy-checkpoint refusal are implemented for bulk update and close recovery. The public rollback type uses the command rollback type, runtime admission rejects non-string or invalid values before forward execution, and packed type tests cover checkpoint IDs and boolean rejection.

Full details: Title check

Explanation

The title "fix(sdk): guard bulk rollback and remediate dependency advisories" matches the main change. The PR makes bulk checkpoint rollback reverse only verified, attributed batch effects under the item lock, with conflicts refused. It also raises the Zod, fast-uri and Undici dependency floors to clear advisories. The title names both parts of the change in one sentence, though it does not mention the checkpoint-ID type change. Its length and conventional-commit form are acceptable.

Full details: Description check

Explanation

The description is related to the changeset. It explains bulk rollback changes that reverse only verified batch effects under the item lock, the rollback option type change to checkpoint ID strings, schema-2 checkpoints, and the Zod, fast-uri, and Undici security floor updates. It also lists test evidence and related PM items, which match the files in the summary.

Full details: Out of Scope Changes check

Explanation

The rollback implementation, tests, and documentation support [#1563] and [#1564]. The pnpm-workspace.yaml changes that raise fast-uri, zod, and undici security floors address the separate pm-zod466 dependency work. Those dependency changes do not implement either directly linked issue and are unrelated build scope.

Resolution

Remove the dependency-floor changes from this pull request or move them to a separate pull request with the dependency issue as its direct scope.

Full details: Docstring Coverage

Explanation

Docstring coverage is 70.00% which is insufficient. The required threshold is 80.00%. Docstring coverage is scoped to functions touched by this diff. Analyzed 20 functions across 15 files. (25 skipped: 25 unsupported.)

Resolution

Write docstrings for the functions missing them to satisfy the coverage threshold.

Reviewer's Guide

The PR hardens bulk checkpoint rollback by attributing and reversing only verified batch field effects under item locks, preserving unrelated peer context and refusing conflicts or unsafe legacy checkpoints; it also changes the SDK rollback API to validated checkpoint IDs, updates documentation and tests, and raises dependency security floors.

File-Level Changes

Change Details Files
Replace destructive timestamp-based bulk rollback with guarded inverse recovery that preserves later peer context.
  • Attribute each committed bulk mutation through AsyncLocalStorage into history entries.
  • Compute per-field inverse deltas from verified history and apply them under the normal item lock.
  • Detect post-batch field or collection drift before writing, leaving conflicting items and history unchanged.
  • Report independently restored, skipped, and failed rows; make repeated or no-effect rollback idempotent.
  • Reject legacy or unattributed checkpoints instead of performing whole-item restoration.

Assessment against linked issues

Issue Objective Addressed Explanation
#1563 Reverse only committed effects of the bulk batch, rather than restoring whole items or rolling back rows whose forward mutation failed. ✅
#1563 Preserve later peer edits to unrelated fields and annotations, while refusing atomically when a batch-modified field no longer matches the batch postimage. ✅
#1563 Apply the guarded rollback behavior to both core CLI bulk commands and the exported SDK entry points. ✅
#1564 Type the exported bulk rollback options as checkpoint ID strings for both update-many and close-many, rejecting boolean rollback values. ✅
#1564 Reject invalid rollback values before they can fall through to ordinary forward bulk execution. ✅
#1564 Add packed-consumer type coverage showing that both action types accept checkpoint IDs. ✅

Give every invalid direct-SDK rollback case a real matching item and valid
forward update/close inputs. Compare the complete item and immutable history
bytes after each rejection so validation-order regressions cannot pass after
performing an unintended forward write.

Document the safety contracts of the touched private mutation and recovery
writers. Materialize the deferred-toolchain relationships already described
in security triage and record the review delta under its canonical PM parent.
Preserve prior failed receipts and provider availability limits.

Verify the strengthened linked regression suite, docstring policy, graph
composition, record integrity and bounded mutation gate without reducing
existing thresholds or changing the runtime implementation.
