🎓 I am Vancence, an aspiring Software Engineer who is constantly looking to further improve and challenge myself with new opportunities given the chance. I recently graduated and was conferred my Bachelor's in Computer Science & Design with a Minor in Artificial Intelligence and Specialization in both Software Engineering (SWE) & Data Analytics (DA) from the Singapore University of Technology & Design (SUTD).

🔭 I enjoy building projects as well as contributing to my team as a team player. I am fortunate enough to have landed a role as a Data Engineer at Accenture under the Public Services & Health Sector Division, where I work together with a group of talented individuals where we focus on building data pipelines and data platforms which help impact and play a part in the lives of many Singaporeans. Just like how I was inspired in the very beginning of my journey during my Polytechnic days, I hope to inspire others through my work and contribute to the public using technology for the good of others. Additionally, I also enjoy exploring new stuff, I am currently picking up GoLang and further improving my SQL skills, alongside, I am also learning Terraform and Databricks while developing some personal projects of mine.

🤿 Outside of studying and tech, I enjoy exploring the unknown and my friends usually label me as adventurous and "outdoorsy" kinda person which is why I am nicknamed the "mountain goat", my hobbies range from doing sports such as scuba diving and snowboarding to hiking. Because of the experience I had with diving, I was fortunate to serve in my school's diving club, SUTDiving, Executive Committee (EXCO) where I was a Treasurer. With my EXCOs we plan dive trips locally and abroad for the student body to broaden their knowledge on marine life as well as explore the depths beneath the waves. Recently, as part of our dive trips we were able to dive at Tioman Island, Malaysia, where I obtained both my PADI Open Water Diver Certification (OWC) and PADI Advanced Open Water Scuba Diver Certification (AOW). As part of a personal trip, I was recently in Bali, Indonesia where I dived at some popular dive sites such as Manta Point, Crystal Bay, and USAT Liberty Wreck!!

📚 I also love reading the news and books on startups, business, and financial literacy. My favorite ones include Zero To One by Blake Masters and Peter Thiel which talks about the future of startups and The Smart Investor by Benjamin Graham which teaches one how to make informed financial decisions.

✈️ I love traveling too. I was fortunate enough to be given the opportunity to go on exchange as part of SUTD's Global Exchange Programme (GEXP) during Spring of 2025 to the University of Waterloo in Ontario, Canada where I spent 14 weeks taking modules which I found interesting and crucial for my personal development. Additionally, I also went on a summer exchange during 2023 at Yonsei University, where I spent about 2 months exploring the bustling city of Seoul, South Korea. Lastly, I also participated in the Freshmore Asian Cross-curricular Trip (FACT) to Changchun, China during Fall 2023.
