test(api-event-handler): test setups and installation tests for every handler - #5977
Conversation
…it logs and websockets storage These three storages are registered in the root container as factories, and extensions register per request. On @webiny/di 1.x, decorators came only from the container that held the registration, so an extension's decorator never reached them. @webiny/di 2.0 collects decorators from the resolving container for factory, instance and transient registrations, which fixes this without any change to the storages. The test sends a request through the real DDB handler with an extension that decorates all three and checks every resolved storage is decorated. It fails on @webiny/di 1.1.0 and passes on 2.0. … handler api-event-handler-aws-ddb-os and api-event-handler-standalone-sql get a test setup (DDB+OS and SQL CI groups). All three handlers now have a boot test, an installation test and the root storage decorator test. @webiny/project: AdminExtension and ApiExtension imported defineExtension through extensions/index.ts, which imports them back. Native ESM tolerates the cycle, vitest's module runner does not, so the standalone SQL handler could not be loaded in a test. They now import from ~/defineExtension/index.js like the other extensions. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>

🩺 Stability & Availability | 🟡 Minor | ⚡ Quick win
Stop accepting connections before closing existing connections.
If a connection arrives between closeAllConnections() and close(), the first call cannot close it. The close callback can then wait for that connection and delay test teardown. Start server.close() before calling server.closeAllConnections(), then await the close callback. Node documents this order to avoid the race. (nodejs.org)

House style in the new tests: casts in their own const, no nested call arguments, one import per line, block comments for multi-line comments. yarn check:test:types now passes for the three handlers. The storage probe no longer casts to never (createDecorator rejected its arguments), createServer passes extensions without spreading an unknown, and the aws-ddb tests drop the dbTable option the handler config lost in #5404. What
Every API handler with its own storage now has a test setup and the same three tests:
api-event-handler-aws-ddbapi-event-handler-aws-ddb-osapi-event-handler-standalone-sqlThe tests, per handler:
freshInstall.test.tsboots the handler on an empty database and checks that the GraphQL schema builds.aws-ddbalready had this one.installation.test.tsinstalls the system the way the admin installation wizard does. The system reports not installed, installSystemruns every app installer and succeeds, the system then reports installed, and a second install fails withSYSTEM_ALREADY_INSTALLED. Onstandalone-sqlthe install also creates a self-hosted admin user, and the test logs in as that user and reads it back withgetCurrentUser. The AWS handlers install without an admin user because Cognito needs a real user pool.rootStorageDecorators.test.tschecks that a decorator an extension registers per request reaches the ACO, audit logs and websockets storage that the handler registers in the root container. On DDB that storage is registered as factories. On SQL, ACO and audit logs are instances and websockets is a transient class, so the SQL test covers registration paths the DDB one doesn't.standalone-sqlboots the real Node server on a random port and talks to it over HTTP. The server arms timers on start (scheduler recovery, the periodic empty-trash-bin call), so the test fakes timers while the server starts, which keeps those timers from firing. One source change
@webiny/project:AdminExtensionandApiExtensionimporteddefineExtensionthroughextensions/index.ts, which imports them back. Native ESM tolerates that cycle. Vitest's module runner doesn't, so loading@webiny/self-hosted-authin a test failed withdefineExtension is not a function. Both files now import from~/defineExtension/index.js, like every other extension file. Not covered
api-event-handler-coreandapi-event-handler-standaloneare storage-agnostic bases. They can't boot or install without a storage variant, and the three handlers above exercise them.Checks
aws-ddbon DDB (7 tests),aws-ddb-osagainst OpenSearch 3.3.2 in Docker,standalone-sqlon SQLite and on PGlite.@webiny/dipatched to take decorators only from the registering container (the 1.x rule), theaws-ddb-osandstandalone-sqldecorator tests fail with[false, false, false]. Swapping in di 1.1.0 no longer works for this check, since the code now usesinContainerScope().yarn check:test:typespasses for all three packages. It also flagged two staledbTableoptions in the existingaws-ddbtests (the handler config dropped it in chore: remove dead createServerWebsockets + dbTable config #5404), which this PR removes.Workspace: wby-next11 · STORAGE PER REQ
