Error: unable to open `/dev/null' for writing

I'm trying to learn about building window apps using Gtk. I really love Workbench and the examples it contains, but some time ago, for some reason I can no longer run projects in Workbench.

Everytime I just get an error:

error: unable to open `/dev/null' for writing
Compilation failed: 1 error(s), 0 warning(s)

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to fix this please?

How do you reproduce this issue? What do you do exactly that triggers this error? Is it running a library demo in particular with a specific language?

I just press the "▶️ Run" button in the upper right corner (in the window header, next to the menu button). The error then appears in the "Console" window.

Just verified this in the first "Welcome" project. Interestingly enough, this error appears only when having the Vala version of code opened.
