Original OpenCCU rootfs patch: 0089
Original filename: 0089-WebUI-MessagBoxFailureWarning.patch
Original patch: ``'''''https://github.com/OpenCCU/OpenCCU/blob/a7a0976657a9c6c28d84fc6ebeb2a9d230fcb08a/buildroot-external/package/openccu-base/rootfs-patches/0089-WebUI-MessagBoxFailureWarning.patch'''''''
Original changes: OpenCCU/OpenCCU@2e972f89a (as part of the former 0089-WebUI-UnavailableRoutingWarning.patch) and OpenCCU/OpenCCU@e5fe1db30 (reduced to the generic failure handling with OCCU 3.69.2)
Fixes before migration: OpenCCU/OpenCCU#4453 (status 0 handling), found in the review of this PR

When a control panel popup (CreateCPPopup() → cpMessageBox) cannot be loaded, e.g. because the server answers with an HTTP error, the popup stays empty and its overlay blocks the WebUI. This applies the patch 1:1:

  • src/webui/www_source/config/js/cp_functions.js: cpMessageBox.LoadFromFile() gets an onFailure handler for its Ajax.Updater request. It hides the popup (centerbox) and its overlay (trlayer) and shows MessageBox.show(translateKey('lblError'), translateKey(errorLbl), …) if an errorLbl translation key was given, otherwise the common Ajax_failure(url, statusText) message. Prototype treats HTTP status 0 (e.g. a network error) as success and does not call onFailure, so onComplete handles status 0 the same way; both use the local helper showLoadError() (fix(webui): show an error when a control panel popup fails with status 0 OpenCCU#4453).
  • CreateCPPopup(), cpMessageBox.initialize() and LoadFromFile() accept that optional third argument errorLbl and pass it on. Currently no caller passes it (the former AccessPoint caller of 2e972f89a no longer exists), so failures show the Ajax_failure() message; existing two-argument calls are unchanged.

Ajax_failure() (config/easymodes/js/ic_translate.js) and lblError already exist in webui.js and the language files. cp_functions.js keeps its ISO-8859-1 encoding and CRLF line endings. The root www/ copies are unused legacy files and are left unchanged.

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • Bug Fixes
    • Improved error handling when loading popup content fails. Popup layers are now hidden after a failed request, and a translated error message can be shown when available; otherwise, the existing failure notification is used.

This applies OpenCCU rootfs patch 0089-WebUI-MessagBoxFailureWarning.patch:

- cpMessageBox.LoadFromFile() gets an onFailure handler. If the
control panel page cannot be loaded, it hides the empty popup and
its overlay and shows an error message instead of leaving the
  WebUI blocked.
- CreateCPPopup(), cpMessageBox.initialize() and LoadFromFile() accept
an optional errorLbl translation key for that message; without it,
the common Ajax_failure() message is shown.

📝 Walkthrough

Popup creation and file loading now accept an optional error label. On request failure, the popup layers are hidden, then the code shows a translated error message or calls the existing Ajax_failure handler.

Changes: Popup load failure handling

Layer / File(s) Summary
Pass error labels and handle load failures
src/webui/www_source/config/js/cp_functions.js
CreateCPPopup, cpMessageBox.initialize, and cpMessageBox.LoadFromFile accept and pass an optional errorLbl. When the request fails, the code hides the popup layers and shows a translated MessageBox error if errorLbl is defined. Otherwise, it calls Ajax_failure with the request URL and status text.

Change: Bug fix

Merge Risk: 🔵 Low · up to 7dc04

The new error message for popups that fail to load does not appear when a network failure produces status 0. The popup can stay open and empty. This is a narrow edge case and the change is otherwise safe to merge.

This applies the fix of OpenCCU/OpenCCU#4453, as found in the review of
this PR:

- Prototype treats HTTP status 0 (e.g. a network error) as success, so
onFailure is not called. Handle status 0 in onComplete with the same
error handling, now shared in showLoadError().
