+The site and the launch campaign state that Microsoft retires its standalone Whiteboard
+app on **September 14, 2026**, citing
+[Migration of Whiteboards from Azure to OneDrive](https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/whiteboard/migration-of-whiteboards-from-azure-to-onedrive).
+Microsoft edits that page as the wind-down proceeds, and the date has already been moved
+out of the page's headline sections. This folder preserves the evidence behind the claim
+so it stays citable regardless of future edits.

+As of August 23, 2026 the live page still carries the sentence "The standalone Windows,
+iOS, and Android apps retire on September 14, 2026", but only in passing under
+"Migration trigger and eligible tenants". The schedule table now opens with the migration
+deadlines instead, which Microsoft slipped by roughly a month (migration end
+August 22 → September 25; permanent deletion September 5 → October 16; service shutdown
+November 30 added) while the app retirement date held.

+When citing the retirement publicly:
+
+- Say the app **"retires"** — Microsoft's own verb. Do not claim the app *stops working*
+  on September 14; installed copies may run for some time after.
+- Always scope the claim to the standalone **app**: Whiteboard itself remains available
+  in Teams and on the web.
+- Quote the sentence verbatim, and prefer the archived copy or the bitmap over the live
+  page, which can change again.
