fix(sdk): preserve declared defaults across discovery and templates - #1570
Conversation
Expose extension flag defaults in text and JSON help, runtime flag contracts, and command JSON Schema, retaining falsy values and arrays without seeding Commander parsers. Explicit list options continue to override omitted defaults. Export TemplatesSaveOptions and normalize numeric, string and named priority through the shared priority parser before template persistence. Reject invalid priority values without replacing template or workspace-history bytes. Add public type checks, handler-free discovery and persistence regressions, SDK documentation and acknowledged surface metadata. Record pm-gh1560 and pm-gh1561 closure evidence through pm and regenerate the changelog with the latest pm-changelog package. Retain dependency and analyzer audit evidence on existing canonical owners without creating duplicate items. Validation includes 88 linked tests, 18 unchanged setup-case reruns, typecheck, static components, integrity, bounded mutation, defect evidence, secret scanning and changelog freshness. Hosted full coverage remains a pre-merge requirement.

Reviewer's GuideThe PR preserves declared extension defaults across all discovery and contract representations without altering explicit runtime overrides, and adds a typed template-save SDK path that validates and normalizes priority—including 0—before persistence; documentation, generated surfaces, regressions, and release evidence are updated accordingly. Codecov Report✅ All modified and coverable lines are covered by tests. 📢 Thoughts on this report? Let us know! |
Exercise typed scalar, falsy and list defaults through the reusable text-help, summary and merge helpers. Verify existing host summaries remain unchanged and their descriptions survive the metadata merge. The installed-extension test continues to own dispatch and parsing behavior. The first hosted head passed 11,194 tests and exact line, statement and function coverage, but missed three branch paths in these reusable helpers. The direct contract fails against the original implementation and passes with the fix. No production code, coverage exclusions or thresholds change. Track the distinct hosted coverage and review closeout in pm-pr1570-review. Focused linked tests, typecheck, ESLint, duplicate detection, graph composition, changelog freshness and secret scanning pass.

Record the review task's required expected outcome and restore the omitted gpt-tokenizer 4.1.0 candidate to the October 24 dependency audit through pm. Registry publication metadata confirms the candidate remains inside cooldown. Document the five touched private helpers' declaration and persistence rules. Retain the user-requested dependency and analyzer audits in the grouped PR; canonical docstring, SDK surface and tracker context gates remain unchanged. Linked help regressions, ESLint, docstring and surface checks pass. The prior code head has exact 100/100/100/100 hosted coverage. This revision changes only documentation and PM evidence; required CI and reviews will run again.

Close and release pm-pr1570-review with immutable evidence for code head 014b3bc: all 26 required checks green, exact full-source 100/100/100/100 coverage, 11,195 passing tests and the resolved actionable CodeRabbit finding. Record explicit reviewer quota/trial limitations separately from approvals. Keep review-only bookkeeping excluded from release notes through its declared tag. The latest pm-changelog generation and freshness check retain the two actual SDK fixes in Unreleased. Post-closure defect, context, graph and secret gates pass without changing thresholds or runtime behavior. This closeout stays in the same reviewed PR. The final metadata head must pass its checks and requested review cycle before merge.

Extension defaults were applied during execution but omitted from discovery, and SDK template save silently dropped numeric priority 0. This change makes declared defaults discoverable and preserves template priority through persistence and creation.
TemplatesSaveOptions, normalize numeric/string/named priority before persistence, and reject invalid priority values without changing template or workspace-history bytes.Tracked by pm-gh1560, pm-gh1561 and pm-pr1570-review. All three are closed with evidence and released claims. Tracker mutations came through pm.
Validation: hosted CI 40069111305 on code head 014b3bc passed all 26 required checks, with exact full-source 100/100/100/100 coverage, 11,195 passing tests and three Windows-only skips in the Linux coverage cohort. The required Windows cohorts and packed Node 22.18/24 consumers also pass. Pre-fix controls fail against the original implementation. The final tracker closeout repeats required checks before merge. Local typecheck, docstring, SDK surface, regression, duplicate, defect, integrity, graph, context, secret and changelog checks are recorded in PM.
CodeRabbit completed a full review; its one actionable audit finding was corrected through pm and its thread resolved. Reviews were requested again after each subsequent push. Later CodeRabbit requests reached its included allowance; Sourcery, Cubic and Greptile report quota/trial limits. Those limits are not review approvals.
Latest pm-changelog 2026.10.23 generates the two actual fixes in Unreleased. Public 2026.10.24 npm/npx and Bun/bunx consumers pass; these fixes await the next eligible daily cut. Intake verified PM-link comments on all 32 then-open issues and zero open PRs/security alerts. Historical release reliability, planned dependency migrations, the two generated-plugin CodeFactor duplicates and DeepScan's auxiliary ESLint failure retain existing canonical owners.
